The time has come when we emerge from the fog of the festive season and hope for all to return back to some sort normality. Realising your skin has not had its best weeks and its now that time to set a new skin care routine in place. Hydration may be one of the remedies your skin needs after the richness of the last few weeks.   There are many factors as to why our skin loses its hydration. Often the first sign that our skin is dehydrated is that is looks dull and lacking in glow. It may also feel tight and irritated. Hydration is the absorption of moisture in your skin cells to improve your skins function, when your skin cells are low in water they lack in plumpness, glow and your skin can often have a dull, tired appearance. If your skin shows lines when gently pinched on the cheek area and doesn’t bounce back you may be in need for some serious hydration. Tips on how to hydrate your skin

  • Use hydrating toners before applying moisturiser. Lots of toners are now in a spritz form which can add great water content to your skin after cleansing to boost hydration levels.
  • Exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Removing any dead skin cells can help your hydrating products penetrate your skin layers much deeper providing more effective results.
  • Use products with Hyaluronic Acid to increase water levels. Hyaluronic acid holds a 1000 times its own weight in water meaning super hydration for your skin.
  • Drink water. Yes this one we all know but its true the more water you intake into your body the more it will benefit you including your skin.
